NaPoWriMo with one week to go

Now that I'm back to work, I'm starting to struggle.... How are others doing?

  1. Still in there, stimulated by a trip to Berlin last week. Thought I'd not have time to write, but squeezed some things out. Bit sketchy over the week-end, but enjoyed stealing a few book spine titles this morning. I have a poem called Spinal Tap, as a result. Over the hump now, but not quite free-wheeling.

  2. I have fourteen and a half poor to upper middling poems so far this poetry month. I'm very happy with that, plenty of material to improve upon later, and as I'm off to Italy for a week on May 2nd I will have another great opportunity for writing. A prose poem or seven of the quality of James Wright's 'A Snail At Assisi' is what I am aiming for.

I dropped the torch at Day 20 unfortunately :( Will certainly be back again for more next year. Managed to publish a small 10 poem collection on Kindle in the mean time though :)

I am on vacation in Puerto Rico, still writing a poem every day, though the quality has slipped a bit since I've been here. That said, I am still pleased to be accruing so much new work. Working every day certainly keeps one deeply immersed in the poet's mindset. Being at the well of creativity -- that alone is bliss, regardless of how much finished work one has to show for it.

  5. Still there! But had major illness over weekend so had to miss 2 poems, I could not do anything during these days. Resumed it on Sunday, liked some of the poems I did so far, about half of what I've done.

know what you mean - maily consists of a tired brain rummaging for words just before I go to sleep - what they may become I do not know but even scraps of ideas can lead somewhere

hi - still on track. Mixed quality. Doing this has fostered a new work habit but the late night time slot that has evolved to complete this daily poem has veered me into the paths of insomniacs and werewolves.

  8. I have 6 days to finish turn push | turn pull.

I enjoyed reading it in the echoey main hall at the Hugh Lane Gallery on Sunday. 2 whole people wrote afterwards to say they liked it. One more and I will have an audience!

I find I am an introverted person but quite a social poet. That's interesting: I never thought of it in those terms before.

I find I am an introverted person but quite a extraverted poet: I knew that, but hadn't conceptualised it like that before now. Society gives me the adrenalin and the energy to write, but otherwise drains me.

Also, just got some good news (more soon)!
