NaPoWriMo, one week to go!

Who's still doing a poem a day? (I am!) If you've fallen behind, there's still time to catch up!

I missed a couple over the weekend but caught up yesterday. My excuse for slipping can be found here:

  2. I've managed 18 out of 23 days so far. Took last night off. Some are pretty slight, but other recent ones are getting long.

  3. I am still writing on schedule. In fact today 25th April I have 27 poems. I pushed ahead because we had guests staying and I feared I might get lost, for some reason the muse kept talking to me. I haven`t used any published prompts at all but have relied on notebooks. I am beginning to appreciate just how important it is to write every day, even if you are not writing poetry. I have found that as I go back, I find a line, sometimes even just a phrase to get me started. Sometimes it might be something more substantial a stanza that can be pulled apart. The thing I notice is that the original piece was written in one frame of mind and I come back to it in another frame of mind as if I were putting a gloss on the original piece. It is that collision of frames/ emotions whatever you might call them that seems to spark something new for me. Of course you can`t even get to that point if you don`t write something, notes, quotations, extracts, prose, single lines, horrible drafts anything. It`s a sort of compost heap from which things grow.
