Facebook discoveries: Joseph Lease

One of the pleasures of Facebook has been learning about poets I hadn't previously known of, whose work interests and moves me. Today that poet is Joseph Lease. A ten-minute recording of his reading from his second book, Broken World, can be listened to here. I highly recommend it.

  1. Thanks for the Joseph Lease recommendation. I found a few of his poems online. How does the Facebook thing work? Do you send a friends request? I just discovered your site and wish you had posted some samples under your National Poetry month question. I managed the 30 poems in 30 days with only a few cheats, and I thought it was instructive - if you're willing to give up every other aspect of life including the washing up it's almost possible to write a poem a day but I can't imagine sustaining it. As for the quality of the work, I couldn't say. You can judge for yourself on my site. It was worth it, if only as a demonstration of what a little discipline can accomplish. I've set myself a one a week goal until next April.

  2. Joseph is a great poet, and he reads beautifully. The rest of Broken World is fantastic as well the bit from this reading.
